Open the Tower of Knowledge by lighting the three outdoor beacons, then progress through its library to the numbered gargoyle balcony. Solve III and VII, collect the Storm Gem and reach the switch below its platform. The rotated staircase and elevator lead to Budaen’s Forbidden Archives Key.

Before the entrance

The Azure Torch alone does not open the tower. Two outdoor beacons are reached during the opening-island loop, while the third follows the Sea King encounter in Obmuer Temple. If the front door is sealed, use the beacon route before attempting an indoor solution.

Save once you have completed the temple and collected its reward. The tower changes the enemy mix and includes another fight near the entrance. Enter with healing, a varied weapon set and throwing charges available rather than treating it as a safe dialogue area.

Entrance fight and first monument

The published route places the Skeletal Executioner shortly inside the tower. Give its thrown axes and advancing attacks room, then use recovery openings instead of pursuing it continuously. After the encounter, the nearby Crystal Monument becomes the useful anchor for the next exploration loop.

Use that point before climbing through the first library floors. Side rooms, bookcases and a trapdoor lead into optional or looping passages. Keep a mental connection to the monument and activate shortcuts you encounter rather than assuming every descent must be the only way forward.

Balcony and numbered statues

Continue upward until you identify the sealed door marked by two crystals and the balcony with seven numbered gargoyles. The solution is to ignite only statues III and VII with the Azure Torch. Read the dedicated puzzle guide if the clue arrangement is unclear.

Incorrect statues can trigger enemies without advancing the door. After opening the passage, return to the main ascent rather than lighting the rest of the line. This indoor puzzle is separate from the three exterior beacons that allowed you into the tower.

Upper staircase and the Storm Gem

Continue toward Knowledge Keeper Wourha’s area and the large staircase. The Storm Gem is on the upper platform. Collect it, but do not expect the nearby Archives doors to unlock automatically.

Look below the platform for a lower opening or ledge. Wind Dash to that route and activate the wall switch that changes the staircase orientation. This movement step is why the upper room can feel like a dead end even after you have taken its obvious reward.

Budaen and the Archives

Use the repositioned staircase to reach the elevator route, then speak to Budaen and receive the Forbidden Archives Key. Return to the locked Archives entrance with that item. Save before committing to the next combat section and the Necronomicon encounter.

After that boss, the Acid Vial changes your options for fleshy barriers. Tower books, cleanup and research are additional tasks rather than proof that the main Archives route is incomplete. Use the book puzzle notes and achievement checklist to distinguish those objectives.
