For the Tower of Knowledge balcony puzzle, use the Azure Torch to light gargoyles III and VII, leaving the others unlit. This opens the associated sealed door inside the tower. If you cannot enter the tower at all, finish the three outdoor beacon objectives first.
Identify which door is blocking you
There are two separate progression checks involving gargoyles and fire. The tower’s exterior entrance depends on three beacons located across the island and the route beyond Obmuer Temple. The indoor balcony has seven numbered statues and clues on stone plaques.
If you have not passed the tower entrance, follow the Azure Torch and beacon guide. The answer “3 and 7” applies to the numbered indoor set, not to an arbitrary order for lighting the three outdoor statues. Check your surroundings before applying a solution to the wrong door.
Before the balcony puzzle
Keep the Azure Torch available as you ascend the tower. The published tower route includes a Skeletal Executioner encounter near the entrance and a Crystal Monument after that opening fight. Establish your save before pushing farther through the library.
The puzzle is associated with a sealed door marked by two crystals and an outdoor balcony containing the numbered gargoyles. This guide begins at that puzzle rather than describing every floor, enemy group or optional item on the way up. If you have not seen the numbered line, you have not reached this specific interaction yet.
Apply the solution
At the balcony, identify the seven numbered gargoyles and use the numbering rather than guessing from a single camera angle.
- Locate gargoyle III, the third statue in the numbered set.
- Ignite it using the Azure Torch.
- Locate gargoyle VII, the seventh statue.
- Ignite that statue as well.
- Leave the remaining five alone and check the sealed door.
The three stone plaques explain relationships between neighboring statues. One clue is among rubble, which makes the complete set easy to overlook during a quick search. Read them if you want the puzzle’s reasoning rather than only the answer.
If enemies appear
Lighting an incorrect statue triggers a hostile response involving gargoyle and Book Bug enemies. Clear the immediate danger and reorient yourself before trying another target. Randomly lighting the remaining statues makes it harder to track which interaction caused the problem.
This guide does not claim a reset command or a guaranteed recovery sequence after every possible incorrect activation. If the door remains closed after you have made a mistake, compare the current statue states with the clues and your most recent save. Do not assume that firing at the same statue again reverses it.
After the door opens
The newly accessible path continues toward the upper tower route and Knowledge Keeper Wourha’s area. Later upgrades, including the Storm Gem, belong to that progression. Solving this statue puzzle does not by itself add a new Wind Dash charge.
If movement is your actual obstacle, compare your current dash count with the early Wind Gem route. The tower’s numbered puzzle and Endu’s movement upgrades solve different kinds of blockage.
