Reach the Necronomicon through the Tower of Knowledge’s Forbidden Archives after obtaining Budaen’s key. Use ranged opportunities while the book is airborne, take brief melee openings when it drops and prioritize avoidance during its goat-like form. The post-fight Acid Vial opens new possibilities for fleshy barriers.
Reach the Forbidden Archives
First complete the outdoor beacon route and enter the tower. Inside, solve the numbered gargoyle puzzle and ascend toward the Storm Gem. The pickup does not by itself unlock the Archives door.
Continue below the gem platform to the switch that rotates the staircase. Follow the elevator route to Budaen and obtain the Forbidden Archives Key. Use the tower walkthrough if you are standing at locked doors after collecting the gem and cannot find the next direction.
Save and prepare your ranged options
Record your progress at a Crystal Monument before committing to the encounter. Arrange throwing weapons and healing items in advance. The Azure Torch can add a ranged fire option, but you should understand its available resource before relying on it.
Check that you can recognize Sticky and Binding. One interferes with throwing weapons, while the other blocks magic; an apparently unresponsive attack may be a status problem rather than an empty charge. The status guide lists their visible indicators.
During the book form
Published encounter notes describe a floating book applying ranged pressure and negative effects. Keep moving and use attacks during safe windows rather than chasing it across the arena. A thrown attack that preserves your spacing can be preferable to a risky melee approach.
When the book drops within reach, take a short melee opportunity and disengage before the next exchange. Keep enough room to recover or heal. This guide does not specify an exact number of hits before the form changes because the checked sources do not establish a reliable universal timing script.
During the goat-like form
The documented advice is to prioritize evasion until the book form returns. Avoid turning this section into a continuous damage trade simply because the target is closer. Use the breathing room you create to manage health and resources.
If your throwing or magical options stop responding, inspect the active effects. Do not stand near the boss repeatedly pressing the same disabled action. Re-establish distance before deciding how to resume damage.
Acid Vial and the route afterward
The encounter is associated with Hell Transcribed, the Golden Duck Figurine and the Acid Vial. The latter changes what throwing daggers can do to fleshy barriers, creating reasons to revisit passages that previously blocked progress toward Deimpo Mausoleum.
This is separate from the Storm Gem’s Endu attack and from the ordinary Wind Gem dash count. Collect the rewards and save before backtracking. For optional tower books and the golden gate, use the library puzzle notes rather than treating every remaining obstacle as another boss requirement.
