The early Trident Keys are Sapphire in the flooded temple cavern and Emerald near the deeper staircase encounter. Use them to advance through Obmuer Temple. The multi-key treasure gates are separate objectives; you do not need to finish every optional lock before continuing toward the Sea King.

First separate keys from entrance slates

The exterior temple door requires four Triangular Slates. Trident Keys operate socket mechanisms inside, and the Trident weapon is a separate pickup near the entrance approach. These similar names describe three different things.

If you cannot enter the temple yet, use the Obmuer Temple guide instead of looking for a key in the starting camp. If you are already in the flooded cavern, examine how many sockets the blocked mechanism actually has before committing your current keys.

Sapphire: early flooded cavern

After entering the temple, the route descends toward a flooded cavern near an explorer’s note and a flowing-water ledge. Search the cavern wall for the Sapphire Trident Key. The nearby single-key mechanism belongs to the progression route.

There is also a multi-slot gate in this part of the temple. Treat it as a later treasure objective rather than proof that the main route is impossible with one key. Continue through the opening that your current key can operate.

Emerald: deeper staircase route

The second documented early key is on a rock near skeletal enemies and a staircase farther into the temple. This is part of the lower passage reached from the pit area beside the second interior monument.

Clear the immediate danger before collecting the item. The route also connects to the third Wind Gem. Published walkthroughs describe retrieving keys from some opened mechanisms when the route allows it, so check for a return interaction rather than assuming every placed key is permanently gone.

Later key sources and conflicting totals

SourceWhat the published routes support
Early cavernSapphire key
Deeper staircaseEmerald key
Trident weapon progressionAn additional key when the weapon reaches its special limit
Umbada’s later shop stockAn additional purchasable key after the tower boss progression

Sources disagree about whether their “three keys” or “four keys” total counts an alternate acquisition route or distinct items. They also differ on the exact level at which the Trident breaks into a key. This guide therefore does not promise that leveling it to 10 is the correct universal instruction.

Return to optional gates later

If you have Sapphire and Emerald but cannot satisfy a treasure lock, continue the main route and revisit it after obtaining another supported key source. The Golden Duck Figurine after the Necronomicon is associated with later shop stock.

The Trident itself is found by the statue near the flooded approach, before the four-slate entrance. Acquiring the weapon does not automatically satisfy every socket. Inspect each item and gate rather than treating “Trident” as one shared inventory flag.
